Mold and asbestos are each their own kind of estimate, so they can sit on a job next to its water or repairs estimate. ## Start a mold or asbestos estimate 1. On Home, type or dictate into the command box, for example "mold estimate for Jordan Park at 482 Sycamore". Or open the job and tell Wave in the chat beside it. 2. Name the work in plain words. "Mold remediation", "asbestos abatement" or "ACM removal" is enough. Wave picks the kind from your words and asks when they leave it open. 3. Answer Wave's questions. It asks one at a time, only when the answer changes the estimate, and skips anything your job notes already say. 4. Wave builds the estimate on the job's Estimates tab and states any assumption it made, so you can correct it. ## Tell Wave what was found and tested The more you say up front, the fewer questions Wave asks. Cover where the damage is, which rooms are affected and what's coming out. On an asbestos job, also tell Wave: - **Which materials tested positive**, or which ones you're treating as asbestos without a result yet. - **Which materials tested negative**, so Wave bills them as ordinary work. - **Whether your crew is drying the structure too**, or doing the abatement only. Drying goes on the estimate only when you're doing it. Hazardous-waste hauling and disposal is custom-priced, so Wave doesn't guess at it. Give Wave your number and it bills it. If you don't have one yet, Wave leaves disposal off, says so, and notes on the estimate that it isn't included. If you have a lab report or a consultant's report, attach the PDF in chat. Wave can tell you what the report states, credited to that report. ## Materials Wave bills Wave bills the facts and numbers you give it. When a line depends on a finding, like an asbestos-positive material, that finding has to come from what you said. If Wave can't find it, it asks. Tell Wave which materials tested positive. Wave builds the abatement scope around the materials you name, so have your test results in hand when you start. Wave also includes the work that normally comes with the scope you describe. Review the estimate, delete any line that doesn't apply, and add anything missing by telling Wave or by hand. Your hand edits stick. ## Photos and what Wave won't conclude Attach photos in chat and ask about them. Wave describes only what it can see, compares it with the estimate, and offers changes for you to approve. Wave stays cautious about possible mold in a photo. It will never: - Identify asbestos or any other hazardous material from a photo. - Declare a building safe or unsafe to occupy. - Make a health diagnosis. When a material's identity or a space's safety is still open, Wave recommends qualified testing, a qualified professional or the local authority. Testing and clearance decisions stay with you and your professionals. ## Ask about the standards while you build On Basic and up, including the free trial, Wave carries the industry's mold remediation and water damage standards themselves. Ask about mold, drying science or a general question, and Wave answers with the section it rests on. That way you can defend your estimate with real information while you build it. ## Drying on mold and asbestos jobs A mold estimate includes drying the structure. An asbestos estimate includes it only when your crew is drying. When drying is on the estimate, the job's drying log works the same way it does on a water job, on plans that include drying logs. The log is AI-generated from the estimate and local weather, and techs should verify readings daily. ## Several estimates on one job Each estimate covers one kind of work. When a mold estimate finishes, Wave can offer to start the water estimate. When an asbestos estimate finishes, it can offer the repairs estimate for the put-back. Tap the offer, for example **Start the Repairs estimate**, and a confirm box names the credit. Select **Add estimate** to start it. You can also ask Wave for any other kind of estimate on the job. Each new estimate uses one estimate credit.
