Renaming a room is a right-pane action. Useful when Wave's auto-generated room label doesn't match what you'd put on the carrier-facing estimate ("Hall Bathroom" vs. "Powder Room").

## How to rename

1. In the right pane, click directly on the room name (the section header).
2. The name turns into an editable input.
3. Type the new name.
4. Click **✓** to save, or **✗** to cancel without saving.

The same pattern works inside any dropdown that exposes a room name as its label.

## What renaming does

- Updates the section header in the right pane
- Updates the line-item display name on every line tied to that room
- Updates the PDF when you export
- Does **not** change the line items themselves, just the room label they live under

## What renaming doesn't do

- It doesn't trigger a re-interview. The line items stay as they were.
- It doesn't change the affected-room data Wave inferred at intake. If you renamed a "hall bathroom" to "powder room" but it's actually a different room with different surfaces, you want to delete that room and [add a new one](/docs/estimates/add-room) — not just rename.
