Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information: name, email, phone, company name, and billing details.
• Job information you enter: property addresses, names and contact details of property owners and other parties to a job, photos, measurements, notes, estimates, drying logs, and messages.
• Voice and text input: what you say or type while describing a loss, which we convert into estimate content.
• Room scans (Wave iPhone app): when you allow camera access, the app uses the camera and LiDAR sensor on supported iPhones to measure rooms. We collect the resulting room geometry (dimensions, walls, doors, windows, and openings) and attach it to the job. The app uses the camera only while you are scanning, does not save photos or video, and we do not use scan data to identify people. Scans that have not been sent yet stay on your device for up to 30 days and are then deleted.
• Automatically collected: usage events, device type, operating system, app and browser version, crash reports, and cookies on our website.
• From third parties: payment, analytics, hosting, and processing vendors acting under their own policies.

Property owner information

Our customers are contractors who enter information about the property owners they work for. For that information, we act on our customer's behalf and process it only to provide the Service to that customer. Property owners who want to access or delete their information should contact the contractor they work with, or contact us and we will pass the request on.

3. How We Share Data

We do not sell personal information. We share only when necessary:

• With service providers under contract, including Amazon Web Services and Supabase for hosting and storage, Stripe for payment processing, PostHog for product analytics, Sentry for crash reporting, and AI model providers (currently Anthropic and Google) for chat, photo analysis, and estimate generation.
• With BetterFutureLabs for maintenance and product improvement
• If required by law or to protect rights or safety
• As part of a business transfer (e.g., merger or acquisition)

4. Cookies

Used for functionality and analytics. Manage cookies through your browser settings.

5. Data Retention

• Account/project data: retained while active and up to 90 days after deletion
• Payment data: retained as required by law and Stripe
• Photos and room scans: kept with the job they belong to and deleted with it
• Aggregated analytics: may be kept indefinitely

Deleting your account: email hello@buildwithwave.com from the address on your account and we will delete your account and job data within 90 days, except where the law requires us to keep it.

6. Security

We use industry-standard security (encryption, firewalls, access controls). However, no system is completely secure, and Wave is not responsible for unauthorized access or data disclosure caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control. If a breach occurs, we will notify affected users as required by law.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your state of residence, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You may request access to, deletion of, and correction of your personal information. You may opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. You have the right to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other applicable state residents: You may request access to, deletion of, and correction of your personal information. You may opt out of targeted advertising and certain profiling activities. Some states provide the right to appeal a denied request.

8. International Users

Wave serves U.S. users only. Data is stored in U.S. data centers.

9. Children's Privacy

Wave is for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

10. Third-Party Links

External websites or tools linked from Wave have their own policies. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

11. Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Notice will be posted on the Site or emailed for significant changes. Continued use means acceptance of the revised policy.
