Common questions

What does the Wave iPhone app do?

The Wave iPhone app (Wave for Restoration on the App Store) measures rooms for your Wave estimates. Walk the property, scan each room with the LiDAR sensor in about 40 seconds, and the real room dimensions go straight into your Wave estimate. Estimates, chat, editing, and export stay in the Wave web app.

Do I need a Wave account?

Yes. Sign in to the app with the same email and password you use for Wave. If your company does not have an account yet, start at buildwithwave.com.

Which iPhones can scan rooms?

Room scanning needs an iPhone with a LiDAR sensor: iPhone 12 Pro, 12 Pro Max, and every Pro or Pro Max model since, running iOS 17 or later. The app installs on other iPhones but shows a notice that scanning is not supported on that device.

What happens if I lose signal on site?

Scans are saved on your phone and sent automatically when you are back online. Unsent scans stay on the device for 30 days and are then deleted, so open the app with a connection before then.

The scan measured a room wrong. What should I do?

Rescan the room with the lights on, moving slowly along each wall. If it is still wrong, email us the job address and room name and we will look at it.

Does the app take photos or video?

No. The app uses the camera and LiDAR sensor only while you scan, to measure the room. It does not save photos or video. See our privacy policy for details.

How do I delete my account?

Email support@buildwithwave.com from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We delete your account and job data within 90 days, except where the law requires us to keep it.
