Settings

Preferences

Choose your theme, send key, shortcut display, chat side, temperature unit, letterhead and default export report. Preferences are personal and saved in your browser.

Preferences is the first tab in Settings. It controls how Wave looks and behaves for you. Your choices here do not change anything for anyone else on your team.

To get there, open the account menu, choose Settings, and select the Preferences tab.

Where preferences are saved

Wave saves your preferences in the browser you are using. They belong to that browser and device, not to your account, so a new browser, a new computer or your phone starts from the defaults. Set them again there if you want the same setup. The one exception is My letterhead, which is saved to your account.

Appearance

Pick System, Light or Dark. System follows your operating system, so Wave switches when your device does. System is the default.

There is also a theme switch at the bottom of Home. It offers only Light and Dark.

Composer

Choose how messages send in Wave's chat. (The command box on Home always sends on Enter, and Shift+Enter starts a new line there.)

  • Send with ⌘Enter (Ctrl+Enter on Windows): Enter starts a new line, and ⌘Enter or Shift+Enter sends. This is the default.
  • Send with Enter: Enter sends right away, and Shift+Enter starts a new line.

If you write long site notes and keep sending them early, stay on ⌘Enter. If you like quick back-and-forth, switch to Enter.

Keyboard chord style

Choose how shortcuts are shown in tooltips and hints: Auto-detect (⌘ on Mac, Ctrl+ on Windows and Linux), Always show ⌘ or Always show Ctrl+. This only changes the labels. Both Cmd and Ctrl keys always work. A preview shows the result as you pick.

Chat panel position

Choose which side of the job workspace Wave's chat sits on: Left (the default) or Right.

Temperature unit

Choose Fahrenheit (°F) (the default) or Celsius (°C). This sets how temperatures show on the Drying tab and in the exported drying log PDF. Moisture stays in grains per pound (GPP) either way. Readings are stored the same way whichever unit you pick, so switching mid-job is safe. You can also flip the unit from the Drying tab.

The drying log is AI-generated from the estimate and local weather, so techs should verify readings daily. Drying logs come with Basic and above.

Exports: My letterhead

This section appears only when your company has 2 or more letterheads.

  • My letterhead: the letterhead your exports start on. Changing it only affects you.
  • Ask every time: turn this on to open the letterhead list on every export instead of preselecting yours.

Default export report

Choose which report the Export dialog opens on: Full estimate (the default), Client summary, Invoice or Photo report. You can still switch to another report for any one export. See Export a PDF.

Saving

Changes save as you make them. The "Saved" indicator pulses after each one.
