Rooms & Line Items

Select and bulk edit line items

On desktop, select many line items with Shift+click, ⌘-click, Shift+arrows, a drag box, or ⌘A. Then move, copy, or delete them in one action, or copy them as a table into a spreadsheet.

The estimate supports multi-select, so you can act on many line items at once instead of one row at a time. It lives on the job's Estimates tab: open Jobs, open the job, and go to Estimates.

Multi-select is a desktop feature. On a phone, line items show as cards and you act on one card at a time from its Row actions menu.

Select multiple line items

  • Shift+click selects a range: click the first row, then Shift+click the last.
  • ⌘-click (Ctrl-click) toggles individual rows in and out of the selection.
  • Shift+↑ / Shift+↓ extends the selection by keyboard from the current row.
  • Drag a box: click and drag across rows to select everything the box touches. The box can span several rooms.
  • ⌘A (Ctrl+A) selects all line items in the estimate.

Press Esc to clear the selection.

Act on the selection

Right-click the selection to see what you can do with it:

  • Copy N items to clipboard
  • Move N items to a room
  • Copy N items to a room
  • Delete N items

N is the number of rows selected. With a single row, the same menu reads Copy item to clipboard, Move to room, Copy to room and Delete.

Deleting asks you to confirm first. If you change your mind after any bulk action, ⌘Z (Ctrl+Z) brings it back. See Undo and redo.

Moving, copying to a room and deleting are unavailable while the estimate is locked or while Wave is updating it. Copying a selection with ⌘C (Ctrl+C) still works.

Copy line items into a spreadsheet

This is the fastest way to get estimate data into Excel, Google Sheets, or an email.

  1. Select the rows you want. ⌘A (Ctrl+A) grabs the whole estimate.
  2. Press ⌘C (Ctrl+C), or right-click and choose Copy N items to clipboard.
  3. Paste into Excel, Google Sheets, or an email.

The rows paste as a clean table grouped by room: descriptions, quantities, units, and prices land in their own columns, ready to sort, total, or share. No export step, no reformatting.
