Estimates
Rename a room
Double-click a room title on the estimate canvas to rename it inline, or right-click the room header and choose Rename. The General section can't be renamed.
Renaming a room is a canvas action. Useful when the room label doesn't match what you'd put on the carrier-facing estimate ("Hall Bathroom" vs. "Powder Room").
How to rename
Two paths, same result:
- Double-click the room title on the estimate canvas. The name becomes editable inline; type the new name and press Enter (Esc cancels).
- Right-click the room header and choose Rename.
The right-click menu on a room header also offers Edit square footage, Move up/down, and Delete room while you're there.
The General section is different
The General section can't be renamed, moved, or deleted. It holds the cross-cutting line items that aren't tied to a specific room and stays pinned at the top.
What renaming does
- Updates the section header on the estimate canvas
- Updates the room label everywhere it appears, including the exported PDF
- Does not change the line items themselves, just the label they live under
What renaming doesn't do
- It doesn't re-scope the room. The line items stay exactly as they were.
- If the "rename" is really a different room with different surfaces and scope, rename isn't the right tool: add the room properly so Wave can price it, and move or delete the old one.
Rooms in multi-unit estimates
When an estimate spans multiple units, same-named rooms in different units are labeled with their unit in menus (for example, "Kitchen (Unit 2B)"), so renames stay unambiguous. See Multi-unit estimates.
