Use Wave from your AI assistant
Connect the AI assistant you already use to Wave. It finds jobs, sorts photos, adds notes, builds estimates at your regional pricing, and records drying readings, all with your access and under your name. API keys are available on paid plans.
Tell your assistant about a new loss, and the job is in Wave with the customer, the claim number, and the carrier before you reach the driveway. Ask who the adjuster is on the Elm Street job, and get the answer in a sentence. Ask what the carrier's scope says about the kitchen, and your assistant reads it from the job's files. Read off today's moisture readings, and they land on the drying log.
An API key connects the AI assistant you already use to your Wave company. It works for anyone who handles a property loss in Wave, at a carrier, an adjusting firm, or a contractor, in the field or at the desk.
What your assistant can do
- Open a job in one request. "New roof claim for Maria Hernandez at 412 Alder Street, wind and hail on October 2. Her cell is 555-0142, the carrier is Northline Mutual, claim 88-1234. Put Luis on it." The customer, the address, the claim, the carrier, and the assignee all land in one step.
- Find and summarize. Search by customer, street, job number, claim number, carrier, adjuster, or phone, or list the jobs in a status, still drying, or with no photos yet. "Summarize the Smith job for the file" returns the people, the claim, the notes, the estimates, and the drying record in one answer.
- Catch up. See what changed across your jobs since you last asked: notes, status moves, assignments, new files, and estimate activity.
- Keep the file current. Update the claim number, carrier, policy number, adjuster, loss details, address, and referral source. Add and update contacts, assign and unassign teammates, move a status, and cancel or reopen a job.
- Sort photos. List and view a job's photos and videos, file photos into rooms, write captions, and get a link that adds photos from your phone or computer.
- Read the job's documents. Your assistant reads the PDFs on a job's Files tab, such as a carrier's scope or an engineer's report, and answers from their own words.
- Write, correct, and remove notes. A note lands on the job as you. It also posts to Slack when an admin has turned on New note in Slack notifications, a switch that starts off.
- Build estimates. Create an estimate, add rooms and lines, and Wave prices every line at your regional pricing. Add your own line for anything else, such as a subcontractor's quote. Change quantities, remove lines, and update room measurements, demo days, and drying days.
- Run the drying log. Record readings by area and day, add drying notes, skip a day, and change the plan. Your assistant can record the first reading before a log exists, and Wave sets one up.
- Ask about the standards. Your assistant searches the industry standards Wave holds and answers with the source.
- Hand off the file. Get a link to download the job's PDF, such as the estimate, the photo report, or the drying log, or a ZIP of its photos.
- Undo. Take back the last change the key made.
Requests that match real work are on What you can ask for. The tools, with their HTTP requests, are on the tool reference.
Changes save when you ask
Your assistant makes a change as soon as you ask for it. Each change shows in Wave under your name, the same as a change you make yourself.
Lookups and downloads are included with the key. Creating an estimate uses one estimate credit, the same as in Wave.
How it connects
- In Settings, then Developer, select Create key and pick Read or Write.
- On Your key is ready, select Copy beside the message under Tell your assistant this, and paste it into your assistant. When it asks for your key, select Copy key and paste the key as your next message. Or add the Wave MCP server,
https://wave-mcp.prod.buildwithwave.com/mcp, with the key in the authorization header. - Ask in plain language. Your assistant reads Wave's live guide first, so it knows every tool and how to use it.
MCP is the way to connect an assistant. The same key also works on Wave's HTTP API at https://api.go.buildwithwave.com/api/v1, for scripts and integrations. See API examples.
Who can use it
API keys are available on paid plans. Admins and members both create keys. Each key belongs to the person who made it and works with member access, so a key made by an admin handles jobs, notes, estimates, and drying logs, and billing and team roles stay with the admin in Wave.
Where to go next
- Quick start: create a key and ask a first question
