Drying Logs

Per-room drying days

Let one room keep drying after the rest of the job is done. The estimate bills each room for the days its equipment ran, and the drying log, PDF and estimate history show each room's own schedule.

Availability: Per-room days on the estimate work on water estimates on every plan. The Drying tab and drying log parts of this page need a drying log. Drying logs come with Basic and above and are included in the free trial. On Starter, a log started with one of your 5 free drying logs works the same way.

Jobs don't dry evenly. You pull equipment from the rooms that reached goal and leave a fan or a dehumidifier in the one that's still wet. Wave follows that: each room can run its own number of drying days, the estimate bills what actually ran, and the drying log shows each room drying to its own last day.

The drying log is AI-generated from the estimate and local weather. Techs should verify readings daily, in every room that is still drying.

Each room can dry on its own schedule

  • Every room starts on the job's drying days. Give one room more days and only that room changes.
  • The job's drying days are always the longest room's.
  • Each room still needs at least 3 drying days, the same minimum as the job.

Before this change, you could give one room more days in the drying log, but the estimate billed every drying line over one period for the whole job. Now the estimate follows the room too.

Give one room more days

  1. Open the job's chat. On desktop it sits beside every tab. On a phone, pick Chat from the job's view menu.
  2. Tell Wave what's happening on site, for example "the hallway needs one more day with the dehu."
  3. Answer Wave if it checks with you.

Only the equipment you name runs longer. The room's other lines keep their original last day. If you don't name a piece and the room has several, Wave asks which one.

When your request is clear, Wave makes the change and then tells you the estimate total before and after. When it isn't clear whether you mean that room, the whole job or no change at all, Wave writes nothing and asks, showing the estimate total each choice would leave.

If that room's pull reading was already logged, it becomes an ordinary reading for that day and the room keeps going.

Change the whole job's days

Ask Wave to change the drying days for the whole job.

  • Longer: only rooms with equipment still running on the old last day continue, and only that equipment. Rooms that ended early keep their own last day.
  • Shorter: every room is cut to the new last day.

Moving equipment between rooms

Tell Wave what you moved and when: "moved one air mover from the kitchen to the hallway on day 4." It's still one unit. It bills for the days it ran, split between the two rooms, and never twice.

The line's note spells out the schedule, for example "2 air movers days 1 to 3, 1 air mover day 4". When the count per day isn't known, the note says "units per day not stated". If the room you moved from didn't have that many units on those days, Wave changes nothing and asks. If you mention the same move again, Wave asks whether it's the same unit or another one, so a move is never recorded twice.

What the Drying tab shows

  • Each room's days. A line above each room's table shows how many days that room dries and the day that room's drying ends, with its date when the log has a start date.
  • Equipment by day. A room whose equipment changes from day to day, like a fan moved in on day 4, gets Air movers and Dehumidifiers rows under its readings.
  • The job's days. The drying days in the header are the job's, which is the longest room.

If you can edit the log, the room line is a Dries select: Follow the job, or 3 to 30 days. It changes the drying log only, not the estimate. If you shorten the job's days in the header, a room with its own longer days keeps them, and the job runs to that room. A short notice after each change says how long the room dries and how long the job runs, and undo on the tab walks it back.

To keep the estimate and the log in step, make day changes by asking Wave. When the two differ, the Drying tab shows each room's difference day by day and offers to update the drying log. Keep it as it is leaves the log alone and remembers the days as well as the counts.

Blue values are readings a person measured. Plain ink values are Wave's plan.

On the estimate

A room whose days differ from the job's shows a Dries N days tag on its room header. It's a label, not a control. The room's daily equipment bills for the days each unit ran in that room.

On the drying log PDF

When rooms end on different days, or equipment changes from day to day, each room prints its own table with its equipment beside its readings and the day its drying ends. The drying window runs to the longest room. The combined packet prints the log the same way. Jobs where every room matches print as before.

In the estimate history

A change to one room's days gets its own entry, for example "Hallway now dries 4 days, was 3" or "Hallway follows the job again, was 4 days", with the money before and after like any other change. Moved equipment gets its own entry too.

Undo walks it back like any other estimate change, and restores the room's days along with its lines. If the undo changes one room's days, Wave asks under the arrows whether to bring the drying log along. See Undo and redo.
