The free trial

Every new company gets 3 estimates with no credit card. Your first 3 estimates include every Pro feature, with two exceptions: Slack notifications and activating an Xactimate export profile.

What you get: 3 estimates, no card

When you create your account, your company gets a free trial of 3 estimates. There's no credit card and no demo call. Invite your team and build real estimates on real jobs.

Jobs are free during the trial, as on every plan. Only estimates count toward the 3. See How estimate credits work.

Features you can try

Your first 3 estimates include every Pro feature:

  • PDF export with your company branding
  • Industry codes on line items
  • Drying logs on water jobs. The log is AI-generated from the estimate and local weather, and techs should verify readings daily.
  • Xactimate export (.ESX), with the exception below
  • Sending a draft invoice to QuickBooks Online
  • Industry standards, built in: ask about drying science or mold and get answers grounded in the section they rest on
  • Carrier guideline checks: upload your own carrier or TPA guidelines and Wave flags lines against the program you confirm. Wave is not trained on carrier guidelines, and your uploads are never used to improve Wave.

Everything that comes with every plan is there too: jobs, contacts, notes, files, Timeline and chat with Wave.

What needs a paid plan

Two things need a paid subscription:

  • Slack notifications. Connecting Slack is available on every paid plan, starting with Starter, but not on the trial.
  • Activating an Xactimate export profile. An Admin activates Wave's Xactimate export by uploading one .ESX from your own Xactimate, and that needs a paid plan (Basic and up). Until it's activated, an .ESX you download on the trial won't import into your Xactimate.

Chat limits on the trial

After Wave finishes an estimate on the trial, the number of follow-up chat messages on that estimate is limited. Hand edits on the Estimates tab are never limited: click any cell and change what you need. Subscribing removes the chat limit.

After your trial estimates

When your 3 estimates are used, you can keep working with your jobs: add notes and files, book visits, and view and edit the estimates you built. Starting a new estimate is what needs a plan.

  • Admins land in the plan picker when they try to start the next estimate.
  • Members see a "Limit reached" message asking them to contact an Admin.

Subscribing

An Admin subscribes from the plan picker:

  1. Open the account menu and choose Settings, then the Billing tab.
  2. Click Change plan.
  3. Pick Monthly or Annual, then choose a plan.
  4. A secure checkout page opens in a new tab. Enter your card and pay.
  5. Back in Wave, you see "You're all set!" once your plan is active.

If you subscribe before using all 3 trial estimates, the ones you haven't used stay available. After you subscribe, you keep the features your plan includes. See Plans and limits.
