The Files tab
One home for everything attached to a job: room-tagged photos, PDFs, videos, and Inter-Platform Transfer files, with an in-app viewer and internal-only marking.
Every estimate has a Files tab (press F or ⌘3 in the workspace) — one home for everything attached to the job. It has two groups.
Photos
The room-grouped photo grid: upload, tag, view, and re-tag with Move to room…. Photos attached in chat start here under Other until you tag them. Room-tagged photos are what the exported PDF can include. See Upload and tag photos.
Attachments
Everything that isn't a photo, in one grid:
- PDFs — adjuster scopes, policies, reports — with an in-app preview. Up to 20 MB each, 50 documents per estimate. PDFs attached in chat show up here too, and Files-tab PDFs can ride along on your export as opt-in extras.
- Videos — walkthroughs, equipment checks — with an in-app player. Up to 1 GB each; uploads are resumable, so a spotty connection on site picks up where it left off. Videos are for your team's reference; they're never part of an export.
- Inter-Platform Transfer files — the Xactimate transfer format. Dropping one here does more than file it with the job. Wave saves it as an example of how your team writes estimates and folds it into how it writes yours, which is why the usual reason to upload one is that it came back edited from the other side. Wave says so when you upload, and the Wave team adds estimate credits to your account as thanks. Training picks up about once a week, so the change is not immediate. See Export to Xactimate.
One uploader handles all of it — drop files on the tab and Wave routes each by type: images go through room tagging, and everything else lands in Attachments.
Internal-only files
Photos and documents can be marked internal — visible to your team, never included when you share an estimate or export. Use it for anything the carrier or customer shouldn't see: pre-existing-condition shots, internal paperwork, scratch notes.
