Drying Logs

Record drying readings

Log the real numbers from your meters in the grid or by telling Wave, then fix and annotate the log. Your readings are never overwritten.

Availability: Drying logs are available on Basic and above, and included in the free trial. On Starter, your company gets 5 free drying logs, and readings work the same on those logs. See Generate a drying plan.

The drying log is AI-generated, so techs should verify readings daily. Each chamber is its own block, with rows for temperature, RH, GPP and material moisture, and days as columns.

Rooms can dry for different numbers of days. A line above each room's table shows how many days it dries and the day its drying ends, so keep recording readings in every room that is still drying. A room whose equipment changes from day to day also shows read-only Air movers and Dehumidifiers rows under its readings. See Per-room drying days.

Color tells you where each value came from. Blue is a reading a person measured. Plain ink is Wave's AI-generated plan, including values Wave filled in when you logged only part of a day.

Record in the grid

  1. Open Jobs, pick the job, and select Drying.
  2. Click the cell for the chamber and day you measured, then click it again or start typing. On a phone, tap the cell to open an edit sheet.
  3. Enter the value and press Enter. Esc cancels.

Enter only the fields you measured. GPP is calculated for you from temperature and RH. Material moisture is in meter points for flooring, walls and ceilings. Only calibrated wood reads in %MC. To switch between °F and °C, use the temperature unit toggle in the tab header.

Made a typo? Press ⌘Z (Ctrl+Z on Windows) on the Drying tab to undo a reading edit, and ⌘⇧Z (Ctrl+Shift+Z) to redo. On desktop, the undo arrows in the job header work too. Editing one field never wipes the others in that cell, and an undo puts back only what that edit changed.

Record by chat or voice

Tell Wave the numbers the way you would say them on site, in the job's chat. On desktop, the chat sits beside the tab. On a phone, pick Chat from the job's view menu.

  • "Temp 72, humidity 41 in the master bedroom"
  • "Kitchen floor is at 30 points today"

Wave logs them to the right chamber and day, and asks if it isn't sure which. It records only the fields you state. Anything missing for that day is filled from the plan in plain ink, and you can correct it anytime. Tap the mic to dictate readings hands-free. See Use voice input.

Fix and annotate the log

On desktop, right-click a cell, a day header or a chamber header to open its menu. On a phone, the edit sheet carries the day actions.

  • Mark a reading not readable. Choose Mark not readable, or type n/r in the cell. It prints as n/r.
  • Mark a day not monitored. Choose Mark day not monitored… and add an optional reason, which goes into the log's notes. Every chamber reads n/r for that day. You can't do this on a day that already has measured readings.
  • Correct a day's date. Click the date in a day column (it says "Change this date" when you hover). Pick the date, and leave Shift this and following dates on to move the rest of the schedule with it. The day's targets stay as planned.
  • Remove or restore the pull reading. If equipment came out with no final reading taken, open the last day's menu and choose Remove pull reading. The tab and PDF then note that the pull reading was omitted. Restore pull reading brings it back. Wave won't remove it while that column holds measured readings.
  • Add notes. Type in the notes box under a chamber, or use Add note for Day N… or Add chamber note… to pin a note to a day or a room. Notes print on the PDF. Only the person who wrote a note can delete it.
  • Write the closing note. Leave it blank and the PDF prints Wave's default statement, which reflects what the readings show. Or type your own. Either way it summarizes the record. It does not certify that the structure is dry. That call is yours.
  • Copy to a spreadsheet. Choose Copy day, Copy table or Copy log (all chambers), then paste.

Your readings are yours

Wave never changes a reading you recorded. Adjusting or regenerating the plan updates future targets only.

On the Drying tab, blue versus ink means the log never passes off a plan value as a measurement. The exported PDF prints every value in one style and fills days you didn't log from the plan, so check the log before you send it. See Export a drying log.

Ask Wave how it's going

The tab shows no flags. Ask Wave in the job's chat instead: "are we on track?" or "why is the kitchen still wet?" Wave answers from your measured readings only.
