What you can ask Wave
Example phrases for the things you can do in chat: add rooms, edit line items, change quantities and prices, add notes and modifiers, update customer info, recall past jobs, and log drying readings.
Wave understands natural language, so you don't have to memorize commands. Say what you want in your own words. This page shows example phrases for the most common requests, grouped by what they do.
Rooms
- "Add the laundry room"
- "Rename the hall bath to powder room"
- "The kitchen is 12 by 14"
For multi-unit losses, tell Wave which unit a room belongs to: "the kitchen and bath are in Unit 2B."
Line items
- "Add a baseboard repair line to the hallway, 8 LF"
- "Delete the floor protection from the hall bathroom"
- "Move the air movers to the master bedroom"
When a line item lives in a specific room, name the room so Wave knows which one you mean.
Quantities and prices
- "Bump the dehus in the hall bath to 2"
- "Set floor protection to $45 per LF"
- "Add 10% to the antimicrobial in the hall bath"
Notes
- "Add a note to the antimicrobial: product on file with the carrier"
- "Note on the demo line: approved by adjuster on 5/12"
Notes show on the exported PDF.
Modifiers
- "Apply After Hours to the service call line"
- "Remove No Bagging from the demo line in the hallway"
Only modifiers that apply to a line item's pricing can be added. See Modify a line item.
Customer and loss info
- "The customer is Maria Garza, 482 Sycamore Lane"
- "Change the water category to Cat 3"
- "Update the customer's phone number"
Past jobs
- "Pull up the Garza job"
- "What did we scope on the Sycamore Lane estimate?"
Wave can recall earlier estimates by customer or job name so you can review scope or rebuild a similar estimate. See Ask about past jobs.
Drying readings (beta)
Beta: Drying logs are in beta and available on select plans. Details may change as we improve the feature.
- "Temp 72, humidity 41 in the master bedroom"
Wave logs the reading in the Drying tab. See Record readings.
One request at a time
While Wave is working, the send arrow becomes a stop square; press it to cancel. You can chain several edits into a single message and Wave applies them in order.
