Undo and redo

⌘Z and ⇧⌘Z, or the arrows in the job's top bar, step back and forward through changes to the estimate, whether you made them by hand or Wave made them in chat. The Drying tab keeps its own history.

Edit freely. Changes to an estimate on the job's Estimates tab can be undone, whether you made them by hand or asked Wave to make them.

How to undo and redo

  • ⌘Z (Ctrl+Z) undoes the latest change.
  • ⇧⌘Z (Ctrl+Shift+Z) redoes it.
  • On a computer, the Undo and Redo arrows in the job's top bar do the same thing.

The arrows are desktop only. On a phone, use the keyboard shortcuts if you have a keyboard connected.

If you're typing in a cell, ⌘Z undoes your typing in that cell first, like any text field. Click out of the cell to undo changes to the estimate.

What undo covers

One history holds the changes you make and the changes Wave makes:

  • Adding and deleting line items and rooms
  • Editing descriptions, quantities, units and prices
  • Reordering items and rooms
  • Applying and removing modifiers
  • Moving or copying items between rooms
  • A room's drying days and drying equipment moved between rooms, on water estimates
  • Changes Wave made to the estimate when you asked in chat

Undo steps back through the estimate only. It doesn't rewind the conversation, so Wave's reply stays in the chat even after you undo the change it made.

Each undo and redo also shows up in Estimate history, so your team can see what changed.

When undo is off

Undo and redo are unavailable:

  • While Wave is working. They come back when Wave finishes.
  • While the estimate is locked. See Lock and unlock an estimate.
  • When your company's job app is read-only.
  • When the change would affect a room the drying log uses.

When an arrow is dim for a reason, click it (or press ⌘Z) and Wave tells you why, right next to the arrows.

When an undo touches the drying log

If an undo or redo changes the drying equipment, a room's drying days or room sizes the drying log was built from, Wave asks under the arrows whether to bring the log along. Choose Update the drying log or Keep it as it is. Neither is picked for you. The drying log is AI-generated from the estimate and local weather, and techs should verify readings daily.

The Drying tab has its own undo

The Drying tab keeps a separate history for your own reading edits and changes to a room's drying days in this session. Pressing ⌘Z there, or using the top-bar arrows while you're on that tab, undoes your last change on the tab, not an estimate edit. Estimate undo never touches your recorded readings. Drying logs come with Basic and above, and with the free trial. On Starter, a log started with one of your 5 free drying logs works the same way. See Record drying readings.
