Contents estimates

Describe a pack-out and Wave builds a complete contents estimate, with labor, packing materials, transport and dated storage.

Tell Wave about a pack-out and get a complete contents estimate: labor, packing materials, transport and dated storage, scoped the same way Wave scopes water and mold. A contents estimate covers pack-out, storage and pack-back.

Start a contents estimate

  1. On Home, type or dictate in the Wave box, for example "pack-out estimate for Jordan Park at 482 Sycamore, 60 days of storage, then pack-back". Or open the job and tell Wave in the chat beside it.
  2. Answer Wave's questions, one at a time. The more you say up front, the fewer questions you get, and a complete description can build with none.
  3. Wave builds the estimate on the job's Estimates tab, organized into pack-out, storage and pack-back, with the labor, packing materials, transport and storage the job needs. It states any assumption it made so you can correct it.

When a job needs a pack-out, ask Wave for a contents estimate. It starts when you ask, including on a job that already has a water estimate.

Storage lines are dated for you

Say "storage for 3 months" and the storage line carries the date range as a note. The estimate documents when storage starts and ends, along with what it costs.

Contents or mitigation?

Moving furniture around inside a room while you dry it belongs on the water estimate. Once items are packed and moved out, to a garage, a container at the property or off-site storage, it's a contents estimate.

Contents next to mitigation

Each estimate covers one kind of work: water, mold, asbestos, repairs, contents, roofing or fire. A loss that needs both mitigation and a pack-out is two estimates on the same job. Wave already has the customer, the address and the claim, so you enter them once.

When you ask for the contents estimate on a job that already has an estimate, Wave starts it, or offers it as a one-tap button, and tells you it used one estimate credit. Duplicating an estimate uses no credit on a paid plan.
