Upload and tag photos

Upload JPG/PNG/GIF/WebP files (max 5 MB each) into Documentation Photos, then tag each photo to a room. Photos also flow in by attaching them to a chat message.

Last updated

Photos go into the Documentation Photos block in the right pane. They land on the final pages of the exported PDF, organized by room.

How to upload

  1. Open the Documentation Photos block.
  2. Choose + Upload.
  3. Drop files in or browse to them.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Tag each photo to a room using the dropdown. Only rooms that already exist appear in the dropdown — if the room isn't there yet, add the room first and come back.
  6. Click Save Tags.

Supported file types and size

  • JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP
  • 5 MB max per file

If a file is too large, compress or scale it down before uploading. Wave doesn't resize on upload.

Uploading from chat

You can also attach photos directly to a chat message using the paperclip icon. Attached photos land in the same Documentation Photos block as if you'd uploaded them through the right pane. You'll still need to tag them to a room afterward.

The paperclip is photos-only — Wave does not analyze PDFs, contracts, scopes of work, or any other file type. If you attach a non-image file, Wave will reject it.

Captions

Captions are auto-generated from the room tag and the photo's position in that room — for example, "Hall Bathroom 1," "Hall Bathroom 2." You don't write captions per photo.

What you can't do (yet)

  • Reorder photos within a room — captions are derived from upload order
  • Re-caption an individual photo — captions are auto-generated from the room tag

To delete a photo (or a set of photos), use the Documentation Photos kebab → Delete — same selection-based flow as Download photos. If a photo got tagged to the wrong room, delete it from there and re-upload with the correct tag.
