Chat with Wave

Ask Wave about photos

Add photos in chat and ask Wave what it sees. Wave compares them with the estimate and offers changes you approve, and it can read dimensions from a photographed sketch.

Photos in chat do more than document the job. Add a photo, ask your question, and Wave looks before it answers.

How to add photos

  1. Open the chat you want to ask in: the Wave chat beside a job, or Chat in the top bar. On a phone, open the job and pick Chat from its view menu.
  2. Click + (Add files) in the chat box and pick your photos.
  3. Type your question and send. You can also send photos with no words.

How many photos you can send depends on where you are:

  • With an estimate open in the job, and on the Chat page: up to 5 photos per message, JPEG, PNG or HEIC, 5 MB each.
  • In a job's chat with no estimate open, and in the Home box: up to 10 files per message, with photos up to 20 MB each.

These are chat limits. On the job's Files tab you can add larger photos, up to 20 MB each. See Job files.

What to ask

The questions that work best are the ones you'd ask an experienced teammate looking over your shoulder:

  • "Is this enough equipment for this room?"
  • "Is this demo reflected in the estimate?"
  • "Does the estimate cover the smoke damage on this ceiling?"
  • "Anything in this photo I forgot to scope?"

Wave describes what it sees and compares it with the estimate where that matters. If something is off, it offers the change in chat.

You approve the changes

A field photo is a starting point for suggestions. If Wave spots a gap (say, the photo shows four air movers and the estimate has two), it offers the change, and you confirm or decline it in chat.

Wave describes what is visible, and it leaves hazard identification to qualified professionals. For anything that could be mold or a hazardous material, Wave recommends testing or a qualified professional.

Photograph a sketch or floor plan

Drew the rooms on a pad, or have a printed floor plan? While you work on an estimate, take a photo of it and send it in chat.

  • Wave reads the interior lengths and widths that are clearly labeled, puts them on the estimate's rooms, and asks you to double-check them.
  • If a label is hard to read, Wave asks you for that measurement.

Use this for sketches and floor plans. To work from a carrier estimate or a scope, attach the PDF instead (see Ask Wave about documents).

Where the photos go

When no estimate is open, photos you send in a job's chat are kept on that job's Job files tab. Photos that aren't placed in a room yet sit in Unsorted. Right-click a photo and choose Move to room to place it, or use the sort prompt on the Files tab. See Upload photos.
