Add a custom line item

Press N to add a line item that isn't in the catalog, or ask Wave in chat. Save your regulars as Your Items so they autofill next time.

Last updated

When you need a line item that isn't in Wave's catalog, a one-off material or a customer-specific charge, add it as a custom line item.

Add from the canvas

  1. Select a row in the section you want the item in (General, or a specific room).
  2. Press N. A new line item appears, ready to edit.
  3. Fill in the description, quantity, unit, and price. Enter commits each cell; Tab moves to the next one. Quantity and price accept math like 8*3.

You can also add line items from the command palette: ⌘K (Ctrl+K), then search for the add action.

The new line lands in its section, and you can drag it into position. See Reorder rooms and line items.

Add from chat

If you're already typing, describe the line instead:

"Add a custom line to the hall bathroom: after-hours emergency callout, 1 EA, $150."

See Edit a line item via chat.

Save your regulars as Your Items

If you add the same custom line on every job, save it once in Settings > Pricing under Your Items (admins): name, unit, and price. Saved items autofill when you add custom items later, so you type the name and the rest fills in. See Your Items.

Add a note

If the custom line needs context ("approved by adjuster on 5/12"), attach a note: select the row and press A, or use the kebab menu (⋮). Notes print on the PDF. See Add a note to a line item.
