Use Wave on your phone

Wave works in your phone's browser at go.buildwithwave.com. There is nothing to install. Sign in with the same account you use on a computer, and the app switches to a phone layout on its own. Tablets and narrow windows get parts of the same layout.

Getting around: search and the menu button

The top of every screen has three things:

• The Wave logo takes you Home, where the command box works just like on a computer. Type, tap the mic to talk, or use Add files to attach photos, videos and PDFs.
• The search bar finds any active job by customer, address or job number.
• The menu button opens Chat, Jobs and Timeline (the page you are on is left out), plus your account items: your plan and estimates left, Settings, Refer & earn, Contact us and Log out.

Inside a job: the view menu

On a phone, a job shows one view at a time. The view menu at the top of the job is named for the view you are on. Tap it to switch between Chat, Overview, Notes, Estimates, Files and, on plans with drying logs, Drying.

Chat is a view like the others, so Wave's chat is always in the view menu on every job.

The chat bubble when Wave needs you

When Wave is waiting on your answer and you are on another view, a chat bubble with a pulsing dot appears next to the view menu. Tap it to jump straight to the question. The Chat row in the view menu carries the same dot.

While a new estimate is still being scoped and has no line items yet, a Chat button sits in the job bar instead, so the way back to the questions is always in view.

Edit an estimate on a phone

On the Estimates view, each line item is a card.

1. Tap a card to open the Edit line item sheet.
2. Change the Description, Quantity, Unit or Price. The line total updates as you type.
3. Tap Save.

Each card also has a menu with options such as Modify, Move to room, Copy to room, Add note, Attach files and Delete. Some appear only when they apply to that line. To reorder rooms, open a room's menu and use Move up or Move down.

You can also switch to Chat and tell Wave what to change. Your hand edits stick either way.

Send a PDF from your phone

1. Open the job and tap Export in the job bar.
2. Pick what goes in the PDF, the same as on a computer.
3. Tap Send PDF. Your phone's share sheet opens so you can text it, email it or save it.

When you open Export from the Estimates view, Share link sits next to it if you would rather send a live link. Export steps out of the bar while you are in the Chat view, and during scoping, before the estimate has line items. PDF export comes with paid plans and the free trial.

Record drying readings

On the Drying view, tap a cell to open an edit sheet and enter the reading. You can also tell Wave the readings in Chat. The drying log is AI-generated from the estimate and local weather, so techs should verify readings daily.

Your day on the Timeline agenda

On a phone, the Timeline shows the day as a list of visits in time order, with a line marking the current time. Each visit shows the loss type, time, job, purpose and crew.

• Use the filter at the top to see Everyone or one team member.
• Tap a visit to open it and change its details.
• To book a visit, tell Wave in the command box at the bottom of the screen, for example "Send Maria to the Park job Tuesday at 9."

What works best on a computer

A few things are built for a mouse and a bigger screen:

• Undo and redo arrows. The arrows in the job header do not show on a phone. There, fix a line by editing it or by asking Wave.
• Drag-select. Drawing a box to select many lines at once works on a computer only. On a phone, act on one line at a time from its card menu.
• Dragging jobs onto the Timeline. On a phone, book visits by telling Wave instead.
• Keyboard shortcuts need a keyboard.
