Slack notifications

Keep everyone in the loop without opening Wave. Connect Slack once and Wave posts new jobs, estimates and notes to a channel you choose. Admins set it up on any paid plan.

Keep everyone in the loop without opening Wave. Connect Slack once and every new job, estimate and note lands in the channel you choose, with an Open in Wave button that goes straight to the job.

Who can connect Slack

  • Admins only. Slack is in Settings > Integrations, which only Admins see.
  • Any paid plan. Slack notifications come with every paid plan. On the free trial, the Slack card offers See plans.

Notifications run for as long as your paid plan is active.

Connect Slack and choose a channel

  1. Open the account menu and choose Settings, then the Integrations tab.
  2. On the Slack card, select Connect Slack.
  3. Slack opens its own screen. Pick the workspace channel Wave should post to and allow the connection.
  4. Slack sends you back to Wave.

Open Settings > Integrations again and the Slack card shows Connected, the channel and your workspace name. You choose the channel on Slack's own screen.

If you cancel on Slack's screen, nothing is linked.

Choose what Wave posts

Once you're connected, a What Wave posts section lists three switches. Each one saves as soon as you flip it.

SwitchWave posts when
New jobA job is created, whether on the Jobs board or from the Home box.
New estimateAn estimate starts on a job.
New noteSomeone adds a note to a job.

Job and estimate messages include the job number, customer, address and who created it, plus the kind of estimate when one started. If a job and its estimate start together, Wave posts a single message.

A New note message includes the note text, the job and who added it. Everyone in the channel can read it, so pick a channel whose members should see your job notes before you turn this switch on.

Post to more than one channel

Send each kind of notification where it belongs, for example new jobs to one channel and notes to another.

  1. Once Slack is connected, select Add another channel under Channels.
  2. Pick the channel on Slack's screen and allow the connection.
  3. Under What Wave posts, choose a channel for each notification. Anything you leave alone posts to your main channel.

To stop posting to an extra channel, select Remove on its row, then select it again to confirm. Its notifications go back to the main channel.

Change the channel

Slack ties each connection to the channel you picked, so changing your main channel means connecting again:

  1. Select Disconnect on the Slack card, then select it again to confirm.
  2. Select Reconnect and pick the new channel on Slack's screen.

Your switch settings are kept, so you can pick up right where you left off.

Disconnect

Select Disconnect on the Slack card, then select it again to confirm. Messages stop right away.

Afterward the card says the connection ended and the button reads Reconnect.
