How estimate credits work
Jobs use no credits. Each new estimate uses one credit, and Wave checks with you before starting an estimate you didn't clearly ask for. Credits refill every month.
Jobs don't use credits, so you can open jobs, add customers and ask Wave anything without watching a meter. A credit is used when Wave builds a new estimate. Your plan gives your company a set number each month: 10 on Starter, 25 on Basic, 50 on Pro, or the volume you picked on Custom. A new company starts with a free trial of 3 estimates.
What uses a credit
Each new estimate uses one credit. That includes another estimate on a job that already has one, for example a repairs estimate on a water job. When Wave starts an estimate you asked for, the receipt says "It used one credit."
Drying logs don't use estimate credits. On Starter, your 5 free drying logs are counted separately.
When you ask for another estimate on a job, by typing it or tapping Wave's offer, Wave starts it right away, and the reply says it used one credit. See Several estimates on one job.
What's free
- Jobs. Jobs use no credits. Adding a customer, notes, files or a visit uses none either. Once you subscribe, create as many jobs as you need. A company still on its free trial can create up to 3 jobs.
- Duplicates. On a paid plan, duplicating an estimate makes a copy on the same job and uses no credit. See Duplicate an estimate.
- Chat. Asking Wave questions and editing an estimate through chat use no credits. On the free trial, follow-up messages on a finished estimate are capped. See The free trial.
- Hand edits. Edit lines on the Estimates tab as much as you like.
- Starter's free drying logs. On Starter, your company also has 5 free drying logs, counted separately from your estimates. See Plans and limits.
When Wave checks with you first
When you clearly ask for an estimate, Wave starts it. When you describe a loss without asking for one, Wave creates the job and offers Start an estimate: one tap starts it and uses one credit, and Not now uses none. When Wave can't tell whether you want a new estimate, for example from a file you dropped on a job, it checks with you first. The prompt says the estimate uses one credit, and you choose:
- Start estimate starts it and uses the credit.
- Not now uses no credit. If you typed scope details, Wave keeps them as a job note.
If the prompt expires, no credit is used. Ask again whenever you're ready.
See how many estimates you have left
Open the account menu. Under your plan name, Wave shows how many estimates your company has left. On Pro, the menu shows "High-volume estimating", and Pro includes 50 estimates a month.
If you reach your monthly limit
Everything else keeps working: create jobs (on a paid plan), add notes and files, book visits, and view and edit your existing estimates. New estimates resume at your next refill or when you change plans.
- Admins land in the plan picker with a note about the limit, so they can upgrade or pick a larger Custom volume. See Change your plan.
- Members see a "Limit reached" message with a prompt to contact an Admin.
Credits refill every month
Your credits refill at the start of each monthly period. Annual plans refill monthly too, so an annual Basic plan gets 25 estimates each month rather than 300 up front. If you still have free trial estimates when you subscribe, they stay on your account and are used after your monthly credits.
