Timeline: your team's schedule

Timeline shows one day at a time with a row for each teammate. See who is out where, find jobs that still need a visit, and change appointments in place.

Last updated

Timeline is your team's schedule. Open it from Timeline in the top bar. It opens on today, in your company's time zone, and every company has it.

Read the day

On a computer, each teammate gets a row, with the day's hours running left to right. Each appointment sits in the row of the person going, shows the job and the visit task, and is colored by loss type. A line marks the current time when you are looking at today. Above the rows, a short count tells you how many visits are booked and how many teammates are out.

The day is wider than most screens. Scroll sideways, or drag empty space left or right, to see early morning or late evening.

Move between days and filter teammates

  • Use the arrows beside the date to go back or forward one day.
  • Click the date to open a calendar, move between months, and pick any day.
  • Click All team beside the Timeline heading to choose which teammates show. Handy when the crew is big and you only care about two people today.

The Jobs list

Below the day is a list headed Jobs. It holds two kinds of cards:

  • Jobs assigned to you, grouped as Unscheduled (nothing booked yet, or a visit was requested and not booked) and Scheduled (a visit is on the calendar, with its next date and time on the card).
  • All jobs: the company's other active jobs, so you can book work that isn't yours yet. Click View more to load more.

A card that shows Visit requested is a job waiting on a visit someone asked for. Click any card to open the job. On a computer, drag a card onto a teammate's row to book it, or right-click it and choose Schedule on this day. See Book a crew visit for the details.

Work with an appointment

Click an appointment to open its details. You can change the Visit task, the Date, the Booked time and who it is Assigned to, then click Save changes. Open job file takes you to the job.

Right-click an appointment for the quick menu:

  • Open job file: go to the job.
  • Edit visit: open the details above.
  • Duplicate: add a copy at the same time with the same team and task. Drag the copy where it needs to go.
  • Cancel appointment: take it off the schedule. It happens in one click, with no confirm box, because customers reschedule all the time. On a visit that came from a visit request, this item reads Unschedule instead, and the job goes back to Unscheduled with its request still open.

On a computer you can also drag an appointment to a new time or onto another teammate's row, and drag either end to make it shorter or longer.

Wave lets you double-book. If a change overlaps another booking for the same person, it tells you and lets you go ahead.

Appointments on a cancelled or archived job are read only. You can open them, but not change them.

Set your company's time zone (admins)

Every appointment uses one company time zone. Wave sets it from your company address the first time anyone opens Timeline. To change it, an admin goes to Settings, opens Company, and picks a new Time zone. Other teammates can see it but not change it.

If your company has no address on file, Timeline asks for a time zone before anyone can book. An admin can add the address or pick the time zone in the same place.

Book by telling Wave

The same command box you use on Home floats at the bottom of Timeline. Type or say who should go where and when, and Wave books it. See Book a crew visit.

Timeline on a phone

On a phone, Timeline shows the day as an agenda, in time order. Use the menu at the top to see Everyone or one teammate, and the arrows or the date to change days. Tap a visit to see or edit its details. The Jobs list sits below the agenda; tap a card to open the job.

Dragging is for computers. On a phone, book a visit by telling Wave in the command box at the bottom, or with the job's Schedule button.
