Move or copy line items between rooms
Right-click a line item or a selection and choose Move to room or Copy to room. On a phone, use the card's Row actions menu. Dragging only reorders within a room.
Sometimes a line item lands in the wrong room, or you want to repeat the same work in another room. Both are a right-click away. You do this on the estimate: open Jobs, open the job, and go to the Estimates tab.
Move or copy items on desktop
- Select the line items you want to move. Click one, or multi-select several.
- Right-click the selection.
- Pick an action, then the destination room:
- For one row: Move to room or Copy to room.
- For a multi-row selection: Move N items to or Copy N items to, where N is the number of rows selected.
Move relocates the items. Copy leaves the originals in place and adds duplicates to the room you pick. In a multi-unit estimate, same-named rooms are labeled with their unit in the menu (for example "Kitchen (Unit 2B)"), so you always pick the right one.
These options only appear when the estimate has another room to move to.
On a phone
Line items show as cards. Tap the card's Row actions menu (⋮), choose Move to room or Copy to room, then pick the room. On a phone you move one card at a time.
Ask Wave instead
You can also tell Wave in chat, for example "move the baseboard removal from the hallway to the living room". See Edit a line item via chat.
Why not drag them across?
Dragging the handle on the left of a row reorders items within their room only. Items cannot be dragged from one room into another. That keeps drag-and-drop safe for tidying order without accidentally rescoping a room. When you want an item in a different room, use Move to room.

When moves are off
Moving and copying are unavailable while the estimate is locked or while Wave is updating it. Unlock the estimate, or wait for Wave to finish, then try again.
Undo if you change your mind
On desktop, ⌘Z (Ctrl+Z) undoes a move or copy, like any other manual edit. The undo arrows in the job header do the same. See Undo and redo.
