Drying Logs

Export a drying log

Turn the job's drying log into a PDF on its own, or combined with the estimate in one packet.

Turn the job's drying log into a PDF in a few clicks, on its own or combined with the estimate in one packet. Check the log once on the Drying tab, then send it. Exporting a log comes with Basic and above and the free trial. A log started with one of Starter's 5 free drying logs exports the same way.

Export the drying log

The drying log exports from the same Export dialog as the estimate.

  1. Open the job. Click Export on the Estimates tab, or the Export chip at the top of any other tab of the job, including Drying.
  2. Under Include in PDF, Drying log is ticked along with the estimate. Keep both for one combined packet, or untick the estimate to export the log on its own. The job's Cover page leads either way, and you can also tick other estimates on the job and the job's photos.
  3. Click Download PDF. On a phone the button reads Send PDF and opens your phone's share sheet.

You can also ask Wave in the job's chat to export, and it opens the same dialog.

Files are named after the customer. The log on its own downloads as "Dana Reyes Drying Log.pdf". A combined file downloads as "Dana Reyes Packet.pdf". Send a combined packet when the adjuster wants one file for the claim.

What the PDF includes

  • Cover page. Every drying log export opens with the job's Cover page: the customer, the property, the loss and the insurance details, in your company's export look. Admins choose the look in Settings, and anyone exporting can switch letterheads if your company has more than one.
  • Job. The water loss, the drying window and the dry standard.
  • Atmospheric readings. Outside conditions, the unaffected reference area and each chamber, day by day.
  • Material moisture readings. Each material's goal and its daily readings.
  • Drying progress. Charts for each room, with the equipment setup for that room.
  • Notes. Your drying notes, printed without the author's name.
  • Closing note. A closing statement for the log. Leave it blank on the Drying tab to use Wave's default statement, or write your own.

When rooms end on different days, each room prints its own table with its equipment and the day its drying ends. See Per-room drying days.

How the PDF shows readings

The PDF prints every day in one consistent style, so it reads as a finished document. Days with recorded readings print your readings. Days without them print the plan's values, which Wave generates based on what real drying science would be, and the charts draw one line across the whole drying window. Days marked not monitored for all chambers are left out.

In the app, blue values are readings someone measured and plain ink values are Wave's plan. Record your readings on the Drying tab before you export, and they appear on their days.

Before you send it

Open the Drying tab and give the log a quick look, the same check you'd give the estimate:

  • Each monitored day has readings entered in blue that match your meters.
  • Each room's final day of readings shows that room at goal.
  • Equipment counts, and any equipment moved between rooms, match what was on site.
  • The start date, the job's drying days and each room's drying days are right.
  • The notes and closing note say what you want an adjuster to read.

If something needs a change, update it on the Drying tab or tell Wave, then export again.
